Patrick Roger Guy Vermylen.

Patrick Roger Guy Vermylen was born October 28, 1959 in Uccle, Belgium to Auguste Guy Vermylen and Jeannine Bouillon Vermylen. Patrick passed away on November 20, 2018. Patrick lived a life of diversity. Born in Belgium he was given an opportunity to join the Belgium Navy, and was sent to the Belgium Embassy in Washington D.C. to serve as Military attache’ for the Belgium military and as a systems analyst with the Military Supply. During his time at the Embassy he met Debra Mae Singleton whom he subsequently married on July 21, 1984. This union was blessed with 3 lovely children. Patrick was a man of great drive and determination. After his marriage to Debbie, while still working with the Belgium Embassy, he decided to further his education. He graduated from the University of Maryland; later, he received his MBA from Our Lady of the Lakes in Houston, Texas. In 1991, Patrick and his family moved to Houston, Texas. It was at this time that Patrick left the Belgium Embassy and became an independent computer consultant. In 1992 he became a citizen of the United States, and in 1994, he was employed by Compaq Computer Corporation which subsequently merged with Hewlett Packard. He remained employed with HP until his death.

Because of his unique linguistic ability, being able to speak six different languages, he oversaw the technical support for areas of the world that included the Far East- which included countries of Japan, Korea, China and other nations; also, he supported with his technical support team the countries of Europe, South America and North America. In addition, to his heavy workload, he also managed to spend quality time with his loving family. The family spent many weeks and months enjoying each other’s companionship on various vacations and excursions.

Patrick is survived by his loving wife, Debbie, his daughter Alexandra (Allie), and his sons Nicholas and Nathan. Patrick is also survived by his mother, Mrs. Jeanine (Vermylen) Boullion, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Along with his extended family, Patrick had a host of friends and business associates who had the privilege and the honor of knowing him throughout the years.

I'll always miss Patrick's smiles and kindness; the Dutch lessons to remind me of my root and his soft spoken and calmness when dealing with any turbulence during projects we're assigned in the last 20+ years from Compaq to HPQ to HP days. Bedankt, Daag en Tot Ziens, Patrick.

Patrick was a great man - a man of integrity. I've known and worked with him since the late 1990's when we were implementing SAP for Compaq. Patrick was then and remained a thoughtful, dedicated, and genuine colleague - committed to the work but also to the people around him. I will remember Patrick warmly! My deepest condolences to the family.

I am deeply saddened at the thought of going to work and not having Patrick sitting in the next cube. He was so much more than just a colleague. He is someone that I've learned from, leaned on, and highly respected for many years. He was such a kind soul, and always was focused on doing what was right. I'll never forget him talking me through a very turbulent flight we had to Germany. He made me laugh so much that it completely distracted me and the flight seemed to take no time! He was someone I confided in, and trusted fully. He will be sorely missed.

My deepest condolences to the family. I'm shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of Patrick. He was a great co-worker at HP and one that I've known for many years. We worked on several projects together and he was very well respected by his peers. He was always willing to help others and he will deeply be missed by us all. God bless you Patrick and thank you to the family for sharing him with us at HP.

There are no words to describe the sorrow that I felt when I heard of Mr. Patrick's passing. Caring for him for the past 1.5 months was so rewarding. He was such a wonderful man and always brought a smile to my face. I dearly miss him already. The only thing that brings me comfort is knowing that he was able to spend the last bit of his life at home with his wonderful family. He will always have a special place in my heart.

Patrick,
Life is so unfair sometimes ... It was a pleasure and honor for me to work with you in some many projects in the past 10 years ... The most important was to know you as a person. During all this time, you did show us the great human being - caring, noble, good co-worker, friend - that you were. Thanks for all the good moments that we shared together. Thanks for always having the right word to us in the difficult moments ..
It is a big loss for HP and for all of us .. You will be dearly missed.
You will always be in my heart ..
My sincere condolences to his wife and family.
