Paul was born on March 25, 1941, in White Plains, New York. He spent much of his life in Connecticut, where he proudly worked for the Newtown Highway Department for 39 years. Throughout his career, he earned the respect of his colleagues and community through his strong work ethic, reliability, and pride in his work. Paul also made his home in Brookfield, Connecticut, where he lived for 40 years on Candlewood Lake Road.
Paul was a loving father to Heather Carlson of Kingwood, Texas, and Paul Martin Jr. of southern Maine. He was a proud grandfather to four young adults: Emily and Robert Carlson of Kingwood, Texas; Clayton Martin of Brookfield, Connecticut; and Christian Martin of Boston, Massachusetts.
After retiring, Paul moved to Kingwood, Texas, to be closer to his daughter, Heather. He enjoyed ten wonderful years of retirement, finding happiness in staying active—riding his bike along the greenbelt trails, working on his home and yard, and taking pride in maintaining his surroundings.
Paul also cherished his time in Maine, where he loved visiting his son and family as often as he could, especially enjoying peaceful walks along the beach.
Paul had a gift for connection and community. He enjoyed sharing stories with his neighbors and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He became a trusted and familiar presence in his neighborhood, known for his friendliness and generosity.
He will be remembered for his dedication to his family and work, as well as the kindness he showed to those around him. Paul leaves behind a legacy of integrity, warmth, and strong independence that will live on in all who knew him.
