It is with a heavy heart and deep sadness that I share the passing of my brother, Phillip “Ray” Glover. Born on November 18, 1948, in Nash County, North Carolina, Ray passed away peacefully at his home in Humble, Texas, on Monday, April 6, 2026.
Ray fought the most courageous battle of his life with awe-inspiring determination. Even in his most difficult moments, he never complained, maintaining his sense of humor and an unwavering grace. He would not want us to dwell on sadness; instead, he would encourage us to appreciate each day, live in the moment, and remain positive.
This outlook defined his life and distinguished career. Ray enlisted in the United States Army in 1967 at age seventeen, serving as a Military Police officer, detective, and Investigator Supervisor. During his twelve years of service, which included tours in Vietnam, Laos, Japan, Korea, Thailand, and Iran, he achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. His honors include the National Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Following his honorable discharge in 1979, Ray transitioned into a successful civilian career in security management with Atlantic Research Corporation and Aerojet. He was deeply respected by his colleagues for his intelligence, integrity, and professionalism.
Outside of his professional life, Ray had a passion for cars, NASCAR, 1960s and 70s music, and classic films—especially those starring John Wayne. He possessed an adventurous spirit and loved traveling the world with his late wife, Lynn, and their friends. Above all, Ray was a compassionate, loyal man who loved making people laugh.
Ray will be laid to rest at Houston National Cemetery at a future date, where he will receive full military honors. He is now reunited with his dearly loved wife of 25 years, Lynn Cowie Hepton; his cherished Westie, Ms. EDI McLean; his parents, Harold and Dorothy Glover; and his brother, Richard.
He is survived by his sister, Phyllis Joyner; his daughter, Felicia Dawn Glover; and his nephew, Scott Glover.
My brother was deeply grateful to have known you. Thank you for being part of his journey. Phillip Ray will forever remain in our hearts.
