

PHYLLIS SPENCER SPRAGUE, 91, born October 5, 1922 in Morristown, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 20, 2014 in Kingwood, Texas. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Phyllis spent many years studying and painting as an artist (won numerous art show awards; her paintings are treasured by many), took care of her large cherished antique clock collection, traveled around the country in her RV (went from coast to coast all by herself), read extensively, loved her many pet dogs and cats, and liked a good vanilla ice cream cone. She always had a a warm smile for family, friends and everyone.
She was preceded in death by A. Marguerite Murdy (mother, died 1972), H. Alvan Spencer, M. D. (father, died 1976), Dana F. Sprague (husband, died 1985), Betty Moder (sister, died 1997), Alice Spencer (sister, died 2003), and Marguerite Shale (niece, died 2011).
She is survived by sons Bruce Martin Sprague and wife Ok Su (Kingwood, Texas), and William Dana Sprague (Kingwood, Texas); grandchildren Morlley Ann Ware (Kingwood, Texas), William Arden Sprague Alexander (Crofton, Maryland), Tracy Alvan Sprague Alexander (Virginia Beach, Virginia) and Diane Marie Trumble (Kingwood, Texas); great grandsons Matthew Bruce (Kingwood, Texas), Luke Thomas (Crofton, Maryland), Teagen Bradley (Virginia Beach, Virginia), Mason Reid (Kingwood, Texas), and Tanner Wayne (Virginia Beach, Virginia); and great granddaughters Madison Ann (Kingwood, Texas) and Eve Kathryn (Crofton, Maryland); nephews Alvan Moder (North Kingstown, Rhode Island) and Jon Moder (Glen Gardner, New Jersey).
Phyllis was dearly loved and will be forever in our hearts as our Mother, Mom, Nona, Aunt and friend.
There will be a memorial dinner for close family members in Kingwood, Texas. A private family burial next to Dana, in Florida, will be accomplished soon.
