Robert Jack Morris

Bob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose life was marked by hard work, determination, and an unwavering commitment to his family.

Bob and Linda Jan “Jan” Nix met on a blind date, setup by mutual friends, and were married within the year. In 2026, they celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary. Bob loved Jan and his family more than anything, and he was deeply proud of the lives they built together. Their marriage was a lasting partnership grounded in love, encouragement, loyalty, and devotion to their family.

Bob attended Dallas Baptist University before following in his father’s footsteps into the trucking industry. For more than a decade, he was a terminal manager and district manager, developing the leadership, resourcefulness, and strong work ethic that would guide him throughout his life.

In 1985, Bob took a leap of faith and started his own business as a private investigator. Over the next 41 years, Morris Investigations became one of the longest-active private investigator licenses in the state of Texas. His remarkable career reflected his independence, persistence, sound judgment, and willingness to build something lasting through years of dedicated work.

Bob believed deeply in helping those he loved to pursue their own goals. He encouraged Jan to earn her degree and teacher certification from Sam Houston State University, supporting her as she built a meaningful career as an educator.

While Bob played football in his youth, golf captured his attention and became a lifelong passion. Among his proudest accomplishments on the course was winning the MGA Club Championship in 1994.

Bob was also an avid hunter and fisherman who shared his appreciation for the outdoors with his daughters and grandchildren. He spent countless hours teaching them to fish, tying hooks onto poles, putting worms on hooks, and netting the fish his grandchildren proudly reeled in. These simple, treasured moments reflected Bob’s patience and love for his family and created memories that will be carried forward for generations.

Bob was a natural storyteller and a good friend. He could bring memories to life, entertain those around him, and make people feel welcome through the stories he shared. Above all, he set a lasting example of what it meant to be dependable. His family and friends knew they could count on him, and he showed his love not only through words, but through his steady presence, loyalty, and willingness to be there whenever he was needed.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Jan Nix Morris; his daughter, Kelly Koenig, and her husband, Robert “Robin” Koenig; his daughter, Leigh Erin Yanelli, and her husband, Aaron Yanelli; his grandchildren, Joshua Koenig, Anna Koenig and her wife, Karen, Madison Yanelli, Samuel Yanelli, Andersen Yanelli, and Ellis Yanelli; and his sister, Brenda Copeland, and her husband, Rod Copeland. He is also survived by extended family members, friends, colleagues, and others whose lives he touched throughout his many years.

Bob was deeply loved, could always be counted on, and will be greatly missed.

A service honoring Bob’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Kingwood Funeral Home.
