It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Campbell Young, Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Bob, as he was affectionately known, peacefully left this world on October 1, 2026, following a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. His unwavering strength and enduring spirit were a testament to the remarkable life he led. Born on November 19, 1950, in Bangor, Maine, Bob was the cherished
son of Robert Campbell Young, Sr. and Margaret Perry Foster. From an early age, it was clear that Bob possessed a zest for life and an insatiable curiosity that would lead him to explore the world. A proud alumnus of W.T. White High School, class of 1968, Bob earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from the University of Arkansas in 1972. He ran track in high school and college and was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. Bob’s career in the oil and gas industry was marked by dedication and excellence. Over the years, he contributed his expertise to numerous companies, including Mobile Oil, Texas Oil and Gas, Tejas Gas, Delhi Pipeline, Olympic Gas, An-Son, Coral, and ultimately retiring from Shell Oil Company. His leadership extended beyond his professional endeavors, as he served as President of the Natural Gas Association and was instrumental in the creation of Golfer’s Against Cancer. A man of many passions, Bob was an avid traveler who, alongside his beloved wife Sheryl, spent 48 wonderful years exploring the world.
Together, they raised two children, Trey and Ashley. Bob’s family was his pride and joy, and his love for them was immeasurable. Bob’s humor and quick wit were legendary among friends and family. His laughter was infectious, and his presence could light up any room. He had a unique ability to connect with people, making everyone feel valued and appreciated. His determination and drive were evident in every aspect of his life, inspiring those around him to strive for greatness. A passionate golfer and sports enthusiast, Bob found great joy on the greens and cheering for his favorite teams in stadiums. His love for the game of golf also was instrumental in starting Golfer’s Against Cancer. He was active in the Houston Area Parkinson’s Society. Bob is survived by his devoted wife, Sheryl Lee Young, his loving children Trey Young (with wife Kortney and son Braden), and Ashley Hall (with husband Jeremy, two girls, Campbell and Carren, and a new baby boy due to arrive in March). He is also survived by his caring siblings, Susan Peterson, Deborah Ham, and Mark Young along with his mother, Margaret Foster and countless other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
A service to honor Bob’s life will be held on October 30, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Kingwood Funeral Home, located at 22800 US 59, Kingwood, TX 77339, with a reception following at the Deerwood Club, 1717 Forest Garden Dr., Kingwood, TX 77345. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Houston Area Parkinson’s Society, Golfer’s Against Cancer, Oasis Hospice, or the Fixel Institute at the University of Florida’s Center for Movement Disorder in Bob’s memory for his generous spirit and commitment to helping others. Bob’s legacy of love, laughter, and strength will forever live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
