Roma Jane passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness Monday, Sept. 16, 2013. She brought immense love and joy to the lives of all those who were lucky enough to know her. We have lost a remarkable woman. Her passions include family, friends, interior designing, entertaining, Italy and being “Mimi” to her grandsons.
Roma Jane was a proud Texan born and raised in Fort Worth and Wichita Falls, Texas. She attended Midwestern State University where she met her first husband, Bill “Doc” Rainey. She was a supportive corporate wife and they transferred with his job to New Mexico, Colorado, California and eventually Kingwood, Texas.
After Doc’s passing, she was fortunate to rediscover love in her second marriage to Ralph DeShong. Together they shared 15 years of endearing love filled with wonderful memories and friendships, many of which were made during their annual trips to Italy. They also loved their beach house in Galveston where the extended DeShong family gathered for holiday fun and laughter.
Roma Jane is survived by husband, Ralph Deshong, daughters Kim Rainey and partner, Drew Oliver, Pam Garrett and spouse, Scott Garrett, grandsons Christopher and fiancée, Dr. Si Chen, Sean Garrett and Evan Garrett. She was preceded in death by her parents Dick and Roma Rugg, her beloved first husband, Doc Rainey, and numerous aunts and uncles.
She will never be forgotten and will live in our hearts forever. Arrivederci, Roma.
