Sanjuana is survived by brother, Raul Garcia; sister, Consuelo De La Garza; son, Edgar Silva; daughter, Yvonne E. Silva Smith; son-in-law,Derrick M. Smith; daughter-in-law, Francisca Perez; granddaughter, Valerie Y. Smith Hicks; grandson, Brandon D. Smith; grandson-in-law, Vincent C. Hicks; great-grandson, Dakota M. Hicks; great-granddaughter, Adrienne E. Hicks; and chihuahua dog, Chiquita. She is preceded in death by her father, Fidel Garcia; mother, Paula Tamez Garcia; husband, Ricardo M. Silva Sr. and son, Ricardo M. Silva Jr.
Sanjuana was born on June 26th, 1928 in Cienega de Flores, N.L., Mexico, to parents Fidel Garcia and Paula Tamez Garcia. Sanjuana was the third oldest of 16 siblings. She entered the workforce at an early age to help support the family. She was a devoted homemaker and caretaker in assisting the family to succeed from birth. She enjoyed providing endless laughs, smiles, and cooking for family, friends, and guest as no one would leave under her roof hungry.
Sanjuana married her husband, Ricardo M. Silva, on April 24th, 1958 in Monterrey, N.L., Mexico. After beginning their family, they moved to Chicago, IL in March of 1962, where they raised their children until moving to Houston, TX in June of 1980. They enjoyed owning a small business, Modas Modernas, in Houston, TX for over 12 years. After selling the business, Sanjuana began work at Walmart where she provided the same loving laughs and smiles as a door greeter for over 10 years until retirement in 2012. She enjoyed setting sail on an annual cruise with her husband until his passing.
Sanjuana was a devoted Catholic, loving daughter, sister, cousin, aunt, wife, mother, grandparent, and great-grandparent. She was dedicated to the wellbeing of all loved ones including her great-grandchildren’s life in which she loved surprised visitations. She enjoyed watching television and playing fetch with her dog, Chiquita. Her family and friends will always remember her overstuffing you with laughs, smiles, and food.
A funeral mass is scheduled for Sanjuana on Thursday, July 16th, 2020, at St. Martha Catholic Church in Porter, TX, with a committal service following on Friday, July 17th, 2020, at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home in Houston, TX. Visitation and rosary service is scheduled on Wednesday, July 15th, 2020, at Kingwood Funeral Home. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Sanjuana’s life.
