Sandra Kay Lockett

Sandra Kay Lockett passed away at home on Dec. 5, 2021 after a battle with cancer; surrounded by her children.

Sandra was born January 4, 1944 to Lieutenant James W. Gilbride and Vera E. Gilbride. Sandra never got to meet her father who died in action serving in the US Army as a fighter pilot when he was shot down over the Netherlands during World War II. She grew up in Southern California; turning heads with her sun kissed looks. After high school she attended Stephens College in Missouri where she used her beauty and charm to catch and capture her husband, Jerry Lee Lockett.

Sandra and Jerry were married on June 8, 1963 and found themselves living all over the country due to Jerry’s job. They began forging lifetime friendships from coast to coast while building their family of five. They were married for 52 wonderful years until Jerry’s sudden and unexpected passing in 2015.

Sandra had many favorite loves in her life, including her five children and their spouses: Mark and Amye Lockett, Doug and Susana Lockett, Kim and JJ Morrow, Kevin Lockett, Shari Lockett-Hamilton and Mike Hamilton. But unfortunately for her kids, the ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren truly became her favorites: Katelyn Lockett, Samuel Lockett, Jack Lockett, Sarah and Eric Eberhardt, Mati Morrow, Tobi Morrow, Camilla Lockett, Kendall Lockett, Marco Lockett, Kate Lockett, Jaxson Lockett and Emerson Eberhardt.

Sandra’s accomplishments include, but are not limited to, raising five raucous children, tennis pro, atelier, chef, professional traveler, and according to her son-in-law, Miss California.

Sandra will be missed by all she touched, but she would want her legacy to continue through some of her favorite charities: stophungernow.org, giftsofhope.holtinternational.org, and nehouston.younglife.org

No formal service will be held per her request, but the family will have a celebration of life for family and friends after the holidays and in the new year.
