

A very kind, sweet, generous and gentle soul joined Jesus in heaven on Saturday, August 20, 2011 after a very long struggle with severe health problems. Winnard was born July 8, 1938 in Mason County, Texas. He passed away peacefully at home with his wife and two sisters by his side.
He graduated from Texas Tech University with a Master's degree in geology. He retired from Exxon Exploration in 1995 after 34 years of thoroughly enjoying his profession. He continued, to the present, the pursuit of his vocation in a partnership with his long time friends L. Bryant Williams, Jr. and T.K. Chao.
He had a passion for hunting in the Texas Hill country where he was born and raised. He also loved playing golf with his Exxon buddies on Saturday mornings, and at any other time with family and other good friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gideon Fields Kothmann and his mother, Verna Mae Billings Kothmann.
He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Debbie; son, Michael of Tacoma, WA; daughter, Lisa Cuevas of Baton Rouge, LA; grandsons, Branden Michael Kothmann and wife Stephanie and Mason Paul Cuevas; granddaughters, Brenna Andree Cuevas and Sydney Elyse Cuevas; sisters, Mary Schmidt and Patricia Bradenberger and husband Raymond all of Mason, TX. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of close friends. He will also be greatly missed by his adoring lab, Lexie.
Memorial Service will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, September 1, 2011 at Kingwood Funeral Chapel.
