I miss you everyday and I will always love you.

I went to school with Stephen. Elementary through High School. I liked him a lot. I remember sitting with him on the bus to field trips. ALWAYS a gentleman. I am sorry for your loss, Hank Taylor

Steve was my grand little brother at Alpha Phi Omega at Texas A&M University. I've been trying to find him for 17 years and am so sorry that I find an obituary instead. I'm sorry for your loss.

Melodye, I am so sorry to hear about Steve's passing. Steve was my roommate at A&M for a several semesters, and we shared many good times. In 1987 Steve was Best Man when my wife and I were married (he was the only real choice).  He has always been a man of integrity. You and your family are in our prayers. May God bless you.

Steve was a great Boss and teacher, but I admired him most because of his faith. It was my deepest stisfaction to serve him Holy Comunion. Meloney receive my prayers for your great loss. Sorry, I was out of town for a few months and today I opened your Christmas card.

I just received your card and was shocked to hear of Steve's passing. Please know you and your family are in our prayers. Steve was such a fun person to work with and as my boss he was the best. I will always remember his birthday cause he loved the "the king" but now he is with the one and only king. But he might be singing one of his songs to him. To Steve's parents you raised a good and loving son who will be missed dearly.

How was I to know and understand what a magical moment occurred when Steve and I first met in June 1983 at Texas Medical Center Inc. He was a friend from the very first moment we met and that friendship endured and grew stronger over the years.  Sara, my daughter, was only five(5) years old when I first started working at Texas Medical Center. She went to work with me when I worked on Saturdays or if she was not in school. She would often go into Steve's work area and visit with him. I am sure that she peppered him with questions and comments, but he never said a word of complaint to me. He would sometimes give her change to get something from the vending machine and of course I would never know about it. He was just that kind of sweet and thoughtful guy that would not tell on her and try to keep me out of the transactions.We worked together for several years and then he decided to move on to another opportunity and left the Texas Medical Center in 1990. I attempted to keep up with him, and in 1994,Sara and I and my husband went to visit Steve while he was working in McAllen, Texas. We had a great time and I cooked some Cajun food while we were there. He seemed to love Cajun food. Then in 1999 Steve and I got together and we both realized that we were single and had a lot of common interests. We started dating and then we eventually got married in 2003. Steve was such a blessing to me! He blessed all my family and his in so many ways. Steve was smart and funny and had a phenomenal memory. He remembered everything about everything. I can never replace my Steve, and I will miss him every moment of every day till I can join him again. He is always in my heart and I have been so blessed to have him as a part of my life. Steve, I will love you forever and ever and a day!

I think of you often and believe Steve is looking down on us from Aggie Heaven. He was the only CFO I ever worked with - that I really liked as a person!!! We had fun, worked hard,and shared Shiner Bocks at the end of those long weeks at Cypress Creek! We always talked Aggie- both my girls went there! His laugh was contagious, and we were all so happy when Steve married his best friend. He will always be in my heart, as will his parents and you!

Please know that I am thinking of you and your parents.  I remember Stephen and am so sorry to see that he has passed but glad to know that he is in a better place.  I know that you are very proud of the man that he became and the respect and love that people have for him.

I never met Steve but got to know Melodye as a co-worker. When she talked about him her eyes and heart just opened up. She talked about how smart he was with just about any topic possible. She said he was her best friend, a loving father to her daughter, a caring grandfather to his grandson, and the perfect partner for her. They say that when two people bond as one - each is a reflection of the other. So with Melodye being a kind-hearted and loving person, that means that so was Steve. All the people who spoke about him at the viewing Wednesday evening confimed  exactly that. I believe that Steve's Spirit will live on in Melodye and his Soul with live on with Christ forever. Keep telling stories about Steve and hang on to the memories until you all meet again in Heaven - when it's God's time.

I had the priveledge of knowing and working for Steve at St. Nicholas School for seven months.  It was such a pleasure to have known him and worked for him.  He was such a very nice person with such a kindred spirit and had the most wonderful personality.  He always made us laugh...hard!  He was so funny. His "light" always shined bright.  We are all blessed for having known him.


My family and I are so very sorry to hear about Steve's passing. We grew up together and generally hung out as kids on Sandstone Lane. Please accept our heartfelt condolences and prayers. Steve was a great guy.

So sorry for lost,but I think God needed a controller to count His many blessings and took the best he had available. Memories are things we can hold onto, and with Steve, I have many good ones, most evolve around a dining table. We will be praying for you.

Melodye, my dear, wonderful friend.  I am at such a loss for words on the loss of your soul mate, Steve.  I can honestly relate with you as to what you are experiencing and going thru at this terrible time in your life; but, it does get better with time.  I know that Thomas will miss Steve terribly as they were such good pals.  My most heartfelt and deepest sympathy goes out to you, Sara, Cliff, Thomas, the Barta's and Cynthia.  I also know that Pookie will miss Steve as well.  I am so sorry that I can not be there with you during this time, but be knowledgable that I will be there in thought and prayer as I will be in the future and you know I am only a phone call away.     Dear Melodye, Mr.& Mrs. Barta, and Cynthia,  On behalf of the Alief-Hastings Class of 1975, I would like to express our heartfelt condolences regarding the passing of our ;classmate, Stephen. We know he was loved and will be missed.
    On a personal note, I believe when we were very young, the Barta family lived next door to my Aunt and Uncle; Edna and Ervin Estlinbaum; in Eagle Lake.  I think Stephen and I played together on a few occasions when I would visit my Aunt and Uncle.  Does that sound right?  Again, sorry about Stephens passing, he is gone too soon.

No boss has ever come close - He was a mentor to me and gave me direction in my education descisions.
