Sylvia Carpenter Boone

Sylvia was born February 24, 1954 in Lenoir, North Carolina to her late parents Burl and Zora Carpenter. She graduated from Lenoir High School after attending Gamewell Collettesville High School. Sylvia was a great stay at home mom to her three children until they were grown and she became a long-haul truck driver touring the country. Sylvia had a deep love of animals. She also enjoyed spending time with family and was a lifelong friend to those close to her.

Ms. Sylvia Carpenter was preceded in death by: her son, Travis Chad Boone, parents Zora Plemmons Carpenter and Burl Cornelius Carpenter; brothers, Colin, Haskell, and Carroll Carpenter; sister, Lorraine Carpenter Collins. She leaves behind her beloved family: son, Spencer Kelly Boone and wife Cassie of Conroe, TX; daughter, Heather Hensarling and husband Brian of Colmesneil, TX; Grandchildren, Zachary Boone of Ft. Carson, CO; Andrew Boone of Marion, NC; Trysten Hobbs of Pulaski, TN; Logan Hobbs of Ft. Drum, NY; James Hobbs of Littlefort, MN, and Rylee Brown of Pulaski, TN, Great-grandson Rowan Boone; brother, Gordon Carpenter of Hendersonville, NC; sister, Marlene Lambert of Lenoir, NC; twin sister, Sybil Hobbs and husband Stuart of Cary, NC. She is survived by many nephews, nieces, great- nephews and great- nieces family and friends who will miss her lively spirit.

Sylvia lived her life on her terms. She was always quick of wit and genuine with her words. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The Boone and Carpenter family would like to give a special thanks to Tiffany Payne and Dorie Stentz who took great care of her in her failing heath and final days of life.

A celebration of life will be held 11:00 AM Saturday June 21, 2025, at Mountain View Baptist Church, 2820 Lum Davis Lane, Lenoir, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you place a birdhouse in Sylvia’s honor in your yard.
