Theodore Robert Schlosser, age 82, known to friends and family as Ted, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home in the early hours of Tuesday, January 16, surrounded by his loving daughters and wife. Ted was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on the 7th of October of 1941. He was the third child and only son of Robert Theodore Schlosser and Pearl (Giamanco) Schlosser.
Ted attended and graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a degree in economics and chemistry and was then drafted into the Army. Following his military service, he entered the workforce and started his lifelong career in the petroleum industry. Ted’s career spanned 5 decades into his 70s, and his work took him around the world.
On February 7, 1970, Ted married Natalie who he met while on assignment in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and the new couple then moved to Houston, Texas. And in 1971, first daughter Kara was born followed by Katherine in 1976 and Erin in 1978.
Ted was an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman starting at a young age. He also inspired his daughters’ love of nature and the outdoors – particularly the flora and fauna of Texas and New Mexico. He particularly enjoyed the relationships he developed with colleagues, neighbors, and friends while living in Hobbs, New Mexico, where the family lived until returning to Houston in 1992.
He was proceeded in death by his mother and father and his sister, Esther Miltenberger. He is survived by his wife Natalie and his sister Barbara Goodman of Brentwood, MO. He is also survived by daughter Kara (children Eleni and Theo), daughter Katherine (Pedro Lozano and daughter Ava), and Erin (Jason Knouse). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He lived a very full life and loved his family to the fullest. One of our fondest memories of Ted and one we all hold dearly is his love of teaching his daughters and grandchildren to drive. He will be dearly missed. His legacy of kindness and perseverance, and his sense of humor and storytelling will forever be treasured. May his memory be a blessing to all who were lucky enough to know him.
We are so grateful to MD Anderson Cancer Center and their doctors, nurses, and staff for their unwavering treatment and support of our husband, father, grandfather, and friend. In lieu of flowers, please plant a native tree or contribute to a charity of your choice in Ted’s name.
A funeral mass for Ted will be held Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at 10:30 AM at St Martha's Catholic Church, 4301 Woodridge Parkway, Porter, Texas 77365.
