

Thomas was a “Salty Dog” at heart. He entered the United States Navy at 19 and began an illustrious career building and repairing the jet engines for the U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels. After an honorable discharge, he would continue his trait with GE Aero Energy. Tom also managed to finish four years of theologian school at New Life Bible College in Cleveland, TN and Calvary Chapel Bible College in Costa Mesa, CA. Thomas was a Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, and Operations Leader for GE Aero Energy in Houston, TX. He was an amazing and doting husband, a wonderful father and the sand, the sea, and sailing were his passion.
He is survived by his wife, Kelly Annette Voelz and her daughter, Dallas Marie Schultz of Kingwood, TX. Thomas also leaves behind two daughters, Kelsey Lynn Voelz and Ciara Linda Voelz, of Kingwood, TX, two brothers, Eric Voelz of Sweden and Bill Voelz of Cleveland, TN, and one sister, Carol Campbell of Benson, AZ.
Thomas also leaves a childhood friend and brother of 45 years, Ed Ihle of Elmendorf, TX. Ed taught Tom how to sail on Canyon Lake in Texas. They met in the 7th grade in the lunch line. Aida Ihle, Ed’s mom, was also a mother figure to Tom, as well.
Thomas is preceded in death by his loving parents, William Frank Voelz and Virginia Alva Voelz-Smith.
Services for Thomas Brownely Voelz will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Kingwood Funeral Home, 22800 Highway 59 North, Kingwood, TX 77339. In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Voelz requests that donations be made in honor of Thomas Brownley Voelz to Kingwood Funeral Home for his arrangements.
