Van was preceded in death by his father, Huey Paul Perrin. He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Maribel Perrin; his son, Cory Paul Perrin, and daughter-in-law, Erin Sadler; and his adored granddaughter, Natalie Claire Perrin, who brought endless joy to his life. He is also survived by his mother, Grace Mailhes Perrin, his sister, Azelia Perrin Lee, and her husband, David Lee; brother, Ivan Luke Perrin; as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.
Born on October 24, 1957, Van was a proud graduate of Louisiana State University, where he earned his degree in petroleum engineering. As a long time resident of Kingwood, Texas, he went on to enjoy a long and distinguished career with Chevron, working across Louisiana, Texas, and various countries overseas. Van deeply loved his work and the people he encountered along the way. He was especially proud of the many young engineers he mentored—many of whom went on to lead successful careers of their own.
Outside of work, Van’s passions included golf, cheering for the LSU Tigers and Houston Astros, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends. Known for his generosity, he was always willing to help others—both professionally and personally. Among his greatest joys was time spent with his granddaughter, Natalie, who held a special place in his heart.
Van was a steady presence and a source of strength for his family. His kindness, wisdom, and laughter will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He’s gone to a place where every drive finds the fairway and every putt drops.
I CARRY YOUR HEART WITH ME
by E.E. Cummings
i carry your heart with me i carry it in my heart) i am never without it (anywhere i go you go, my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing, my darling)
i fear no fate (for you are my fate, my sweet) i want no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true) and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you here is the deepest secret nobody knows (here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart
i carry your heart (i carry it in my heart)
