Walter Kent Tharp

Walter Kent Tharp, 93, died June 20, 2026. Born March 9, 1933, Walter will be remembered with deep respect and enduring affection by all who knew him. A beloved presence in the lives of his family and friends, he leaves behind a legacy rooted in devotion, steadiness, and care for those closest to him.

Walter served in the United States Army, a chapter of his life that reflected a commitment to duty and country that remained part of who he was.

Walter is preceded in death by his father Walter Jackson Tharp; his mother Mayme Pearl Smith; wife Thelmarie Tharp; daughter Karen Behenna; brother George Tharp; and sisters Audrey Kurtz and Majorie Iley.

Walter is survived by his children, Brian Tharp and Jerrilyn Cranford; brothers Larry Tharp and James Tharp; sisters Bonnie York and Bettie Tullis; grandchildren Mikki Roberson, James Cranford, Priscilla Bui, Meghan Tharp, and Tommy Gibbs; great-grandchildren Felicia Alexander, Karis Gibbs, Cori Cranford, Levi Cranford, Demi Cranford, Emilia Bui, and Bailey Bui; and great-great-grandchildren Hudson Thompson, Karsyn Thompson, and Truett Thompson.

Visitation will be held at Kingwood Funeral Home, 22800 Highway 59 North, Kingwood, TX 77339, on June 29, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

A Funeral Service will be held at Kingwood Funeral Home, 22800 Highway 59 North, Kingwood, TX 77339, on June 30, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.

A Committal Service will be held at Rosewood Funeral Home, 2602 S Houston Ave, Humble, TX 77396, on June 30, 2026, from 11:45 am to 12:00 pm.
