

Wilma Newton, born April 16, 1907, to Katherine and Frank Kienzle in St. Louis, Missouri, passed away peacefully at Regent Care Center, Kingwood, on December 17, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Arthur Newton; her older sister, Frances Bauer; and younger sister, Kay Ayers.
She is survived by her two daughters, Kathy Garvin of Moreno Valley, California and Nancy Thompson and son-in-law, Ray Thompson. She very much enjoyed her six grandchildren: Betty Ferri of Camino, California, Ron Garvin and Lauree Levitsky of Moreno Valley, California, Randy Thompson of Uxbridge, Massachusetts, Gary Thompson of Georgetown, Texas and David Thompson of Waxahachie, Texas. All were gathered in Kingwood for her 100th birthday in 2007 along with her six great grandchildren, Josh and Jamie Ferri, R.J. Garvin, Shelby Garvin Martin, Michael and A.J. Levitsky, Andrew, Jenelle, Danny and Scott Thompson, and four great great grandchildren from California.
Wilma enjoyed seven years at the Terrace in Kingwood before moving to Regent Care. She loved being an active member of Kingwood Christian Church, was an avid bridge player, enjoyed reading, dominoes and other games. Before coming to Kingwood she was a resident of Ardmore, Oklahoma, for more than 50 years. While there she was active in First Christian Church of Ardmore, YWCA, Girl Scouts and other organizations.
A celebration of her life will be scheduled in early January. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Kingwood Christian Church Memorial Fund.
