Forever loved, she was a devoted wife of Ivan, her husband of 62 years and a proud Mom of Nedeljka (Nedge), their daughter. Ana was born in the small village of Zavrsje, Croatia. Her home neighboured the local parish church and formed the foundation of her devout faith at a very early age. Ana and Ivan were married in 1961 and moved to Kitchener in 1968. Life as a new immigrant meant hard work and simple pleasures. Ana enjoyed travelling, picnicking, Croatian festivals, socializing with friends but was happiest at home, living a simple life. She was someone who cared deeply for the well being of her family and friends.
Ana and Ivan shared a special bond. Their 62 years of marriage was an inspiring testament of commitment and devotion. The marriage vow, “for better, for worse, in sickness and in health,” were lifelong constants. Ivan was Ana’s rock, her companion and ultimately her unwavering caregiver. Ana was predeceased by her parents, Mijo and Dragica Maver and brother Josip Maver.
Ivan and Nedeljka acknowledge, with sincere appreciation, the many comforting messages, prayers and expressions of kindness received during this difficult time.
The family would especially like to thank Dr. Zaan Davies (Duncan, B.C.) for her ongoing care and the kind and compassionate staff at Cairnsmore Place.
Friends will be received at the WESTMOUNT MEMORIAL CELEBRATION CENTRE, 1001 Ottawa Street South, Kitchener on Thursday, January 11th from 4-7pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church, 305 Laurentian Drive, Kitchener, on Friday, January 12th at 11am. Interment to follow at Williamsburg Cemetery, Kitchener.
