Andre was loving and authentic and you always knew where he stood. He always had your back. If he had one weakness it would be that he was loyal to a fault. But that isn't a weakness, it's a shining example of how to live life genuinely. He had immense integrity and that is something that can diminish when pursuing a career in our industry. His never wavered. Yes he was hilarious, and loved what he did for a living and in turn audiences loved him back. Andre, you live on in everyone you encountered.  I loved performing with you but most of all I loved being your friend.  I respected your gift and passion of comedy and your relentless determination. You didn't have a lot of time here, but the impact you made echoes a hundred lifetimes.

So sad about Andre. I taught him writing at Second City. He was so funny and smart. His material was really good and he was fierce about having it heard. Every person who met and talked to him will tell you he was kind. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Dre, I feel so fortunate and blessed to have been your friend. To have performed along side you so many times, our talks, hanging out. You are hilarious. A gift to the comedy community. I'll miss joking around with you and our fist pumps (which we invented before they became a mainstream thing.) I LOVE YOU.

My deepest condolences go out to his family and other friends. Andre was truly one of a kind - no one can replace him. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him and hold dear to their hearts, myself included. I am sorry that I won't get to see him again but I know he is up in Heaven watching all over us. Andre and I used to attend some community events in Toronto. I also got to see him perform his comedy on stage. He was friendly, clever and insightful. He will be greatly missed.

I began working at Resurrection Secondary school in the fall of 1998. Andre was one of the first students I ever met and it took him about ten seconds to have me laughing. Over the next couple of years I had the chance to spend some great time and make some great memories with Andre both in school, and on several field trips. I am still finding it hard to believe that he has left us. Time and time again, Andre was a living testimonial to the strength and determination of a truly great human being. You will be missed yet always fondly remembered my friend.

Like so many who knew Andre, on behalf of The Imponderables I can say we continue to take the news of his passing very hard. Looking forward to seeing friends tonight in Kitchener to share more stories.

Everything became extra cheery whenever we crossed paths. He always brought the same kindness and loveliness with him. I'm sending as much fondness and kindness as I can muster to his family and to our friends. Been thinking about you ever since I heard about everything, Andre. Piles of love.

Andre always knew how to live life to the fullest. His advocacy work and career endeavors have been inspirational. Andre's legacy will live on in our hearts, especially in times of joy and laughter. Andre was a joy to teach and later became a lovely friend and colleague in the community. I loved his curiosity.  Andre will remain a special force that I will never forget.

I have spoken to many and there is great love for my dear friend Andre because he gave us all such great love. Andre has always been larger than life, no body could contain his energy. He will live forever in all our hearts.

A sad day for our acting comunnity here in Toronto with Andre passing. He left us much to young. I met him at one of our acting conferences and was very pleasant to talk with. Andre was a very valued member of the Actra family and will be dearly missed. RIP Andre you will never be forgotten.

I am very sad but I have great memories of Andre.  He brought a fresh voice to comedy in Toronto. Prayers and condolences to the Arruda family. Andre was a very good childhood friend of my brothers and I also had the great pleasure to meet Andre. He always had such a great sense of humour growing up and it was no surprise to see him flourish in the Comedy industry. May you find peace and comfort in this time of grief.

I realize now how influential Andre was.  If I found myself getting lazy or making excuses I would think about how driven he was.
