Desmond "Desi" Dale Joseph Henry, a man of extraordinary kindness and love, passed away on December 22, 2024, just days before his 72nd birthday. Born on December 31, 1952, in Jamaica, Desi lived a life marked by selflessness, warmth, and resilience.
Desi was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back. While he, like all of us, was not without flaws, he exemplified unconditional love in its truest form. His family was his world, and he took great pride in being a devoted father to Jonathan and Melanie and a doting grandfather to Kai, Olivia, Sienna, Ariya, and Jasmine.
A design engineer by trade, Desi’s hands were truly gifted. Whether crafting beautiful and meaningful pieces like hope chests, piggy banks, and toy cars, or playing his guitar, Desi’s creations were enriched with love, skill, and creativity. His woodworking talents turned raw materials into treasures, and his music brought joy to all who heard it. Desi’s ability to work with his hands was a reflection of his ingenuity and his deep desire to bring happiness to those around him.
Desi’s legacy is one of love, generosity, and joy. He taught those around him the importance of cherishing family, embracing faith, and finding beauty in music. His laughter and melodies will continue to resonate in the hearts of those he touched.
Desi was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Ethlyn and Luther Henry. He is survived by his loving sister Beverley and brother Landis, along with his children, nephews, grandchildren, and countless friends and family who will carry his memory forward.
As we remember Desi, we hold close the words of Rumi: "The wound is the place where the light enters you."
May he rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the music and love he so deeply cherished.
