Dora Schaefer

Greatly missed by her husband and best friend Michael for 65 years. Loving mother to daughter Arlene and husband Vic Pasnyk, son Randy and wife Susan McMaster. Devoted grandmother to Robert and Evan Pasnyk. Dear sister of Hilde Cole and Sandy MacGibbon, sister Giselle Uhrig and husband Ken, along with many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brother Bela Hofbauer and wife Rosie. Predeceased by parents Mary and George Hofbauer. Dora was born in Musci, Hungary on May 28, 1934. The family was forced to leave Hungary in 1946. They lived in Germany as refugees for 2 years, then immigrated to Canada. Dora moved to Kitchener in 1952 and married Michael a year later. She worked as a hairdresser till she became a mother. Dora went back to work part time at Hahn Pharmacy, and later Riepert Pharmacy. Dora enjoyed golfing, camping, square dancing and volunteering for a number of organizations. She and Mike travelled extensively throughout North America and Europe. A special thank you for the kind care provided to Dora by the staff at University Gates, Hagey Neighbourhood. Family and friends will be received at Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, 1001 Ottawa St. S., Kitchener, (519-743-8900), on Friday, January 11, 2019, from 10:00 - 10:45 a.m., where the funeral service will be held in the chapel at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Williamsburg Cemetery.
