Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at Freeport Hospital. Emilio has been reunited with his cherished wife, Concetta of 54 years who predeceased him in 2010. He is survived by his devoted son Tony (Sandra) DiMascio and his beloved Grandchildren, Jon (Jenn) and Mike. Emilio will also be fondly remembered by his relatives in Italy. Ever the hard worker, Emilio immigrated to Canada from Italy in 1963 to provide his family with a better life. Through ingenuity and resourcefulness, Emilio established himself in Kitchener and made many friends and acquaintances. He was a devoted husband and father who provided for his family both here in Canada and back home in Italy. Emilio retired from the City of Kitchener in 1994. He was also an original member of the Italian Cortina Club in Kitchener. He loved the outdoors and spent most of his time in his gardens harvesting fig trees and planting his own grape vines; the fruit of which he shared with his family, friends and neighbours. Emilio developed a tradition with his family where they would come together to harvest his heirloom tomatoes and make tomato sauce in a very elaborate production facility located in his garage. Spending quality time and enjoying long Italian feasts with his family is what made Emilio the happiest. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Debbie Gordon of Alberta for her help and support during this difficult time. Special thanks to the staff of Union Terrace 3rd floor of Freeport hospital for making Dad’s final days comfortable. Visitation will be held at Westmount Funeral Chapel, 1001 Ottawa St. S in Kitchener on Tuesday January 22 from 2-4 as well as 7-9 p.m., Parish Prayers will be at 8:00. The Funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday January 23 at 11:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, 305 Laurentian Dr. in Kitchener.
