It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Florence Noble, in her 97th year, on July 23, 2025, with some family by her side. Up until the day before, she said she was going to make it to 100 years young but only if she wasn’t suffering.
Florence was born in Newfoundland when it was a British Colony, long before it became a Province of Canada in 1949. Florence came to Hespeler, Ontario in 1948. They were calling for workers to work in textile manufacturing.
She met and married her husband Ray in 1951, raising five children (one set of twins). The second set of twin girls were not long for this world and passed within the first week. It was just a couple years ago that she decided to get some nice plot markers for the girl’s graves. They are resting in Woodland Cemetery in Kitchener.
Florence was predeceased by her parents Janet (nee Barrett) and Moses Blundon. Also, sisters Annie, Alberta, Violet Riggs, Hazel Stockwood and Olga Blundon, Brothers Jack and Don Blundon.
She will be greatly missed by her children Eric (Bonnie), Connie (Lorne), Tom (Diane), Dale (Kim) and Scott (Janet), nine grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren with two on the way, and one great-great grandchild, brother Eric of Newfoundland, a few cousins and many nieces and nephews. From Florence and Ray, down to their children and beyond are many extended families. She loved them all.
Florence eventually went back to work, where she retired from Lear Seating (General Springs) in 1991.
Florence always enjoyed attending big gatherings including family reunions and birthday celebrations.
She was an avid knitter of socks and slippers, made for “out of the cold” church bazaars and family. She loved playing her scratch tickets, always saying “get me tickets” for her birthday, Christmas etc. She was also passionate about hockey, cheering enthusiastically for both the Kitchener Rangers and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Above all, she adored her pets — Nikki the dog and her cats, Flossy and Precious.
A visitation for Florence will be held Friday, August 1, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m at Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, 1001 Ottawa Street South, Kitchener. Funeral will follow at 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 2723 Victoria St N, Breslau.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to her biggest loves, Cystic Fibrosis of Canada and the Humane Society.
