Francis Thomas Lockhart

April 2, 1941May 21, 2020

LOCKHART, FRANCIS (April 2, 1941 – May 21, 2020)

If you asked a hundred people who Francis Lockhart was they’d each give you a different story. A lumber salesman. A dog whisperer. A jack of all trades. A MacGyver. A man who never knew what “E” meant on a gas gauge. A man with the most tools. A man who knew how to use a 2x4 and where to shove it.

Francis was none of these things, or perhaps he was all of them. What he was, was a superhero to his grandchildren, a father who loved his children unconditionally and a husband who found the love of his life. Francis left this world with his wife and best friend, Pat, by his side on May 21, 2020.

He leaves behind his children to continue his legacy of unconditional love; Doug (Jenn) Lockhart, Connie (Brian) Hillman; Sherri (Bill) Sword and Rob (Wendy) Lockhart. Proud and amazing grandfather to Kayla (Brandon), Lynden, Christopher (Ramina), Kirissa, Koralee, Taylor, Brittney, Paige and Mitchell. Loving brother to Margret Kenney, Brother-in-law to Eddie (Gerry), Frank (Florence) and Wayne (Nancy). Also survived by many adoring nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his father Francis (1979) and mother Carrie (2011).

Francis has touched the lives of many with his kind and caring nature. His wit and the special twinkle in his eye will be missed by his many friends.

The family extends a special thank you to his PSW, Ross, Dr. Mel Cescon, Dr. Michael Koke, Angela and all of the caring staff of G4 at Freeport Hospital over the last four months. The compassion and care that was shown was greatly appreciated.

A private service lead by Francis’ dear friend, Monsignor Ed Sheridan, will take place with the announcement of a celebration of life at a later date.

Arrangements entrusted to Westmount Funeral Home. As expressions of sympathy donations can be made to Blessed Sacrament Parish, The Canadian Cancer Society or The Alzheimer’s Society.

Uncle Francis, what can I say.......

You were like a Father to me; you gave me love and advice (even when I didn’t want it), guidance in Family ‘situations’, always made me smile or laugh out loud.

You were the first to know I was getting married, gave your blessing and then gave me away at my wedding.

Love you Uncle Francis, I will hold you in my heart always.

Our thoughts are with Pat and famly in the loss of Francis and may God bring you comfort. We remember Francis as a very caring man who would do anything for his family, friends and neighbours. Though Francis did not want any thanks or recognition, we were so thankful for his care when we lost our home to fire. Francis found us a home to live in while we rebuilt the house and he oversaw the construction with his keen eye and his words of wisdom.

Sincerest condolences to you and your family on Francis’ passing. Very saddened to read of it today. We had a lot of good memories, and laughs in the many years we worked together at Beaver Lumber in Waterloo, and the times we visited at the house in Mannheim. So sorry for your loss. He was a character, and will be missed.

He will be remembered as an agreeable member of the Mannheim Road 'old guard' with a friendly wave and lovely Dalmation dog
as you passed by!

Francis, the King of the 2x4. We had the pleasure of having Francis and Pat as our neighbours in Mannheim. Generous to a fault. Always with advice or the right tool for the job, we could always count on Francis to be there.
Pat, Doug, Connie, Sherri and Rob, I am so sorry for your loss.
Our Thoughts and Prayers are with you.

I think I can speak for most of the grandchildren when I say we will all remember his swindle and dealing at garage sales every year. If you wanted to get a good deal, you brought pops with you! Every garage sale I visit or pass I’ll be thinking of you pops !
