Passed away suddenly on Thursday, June 4, 2015. He was 84 years old. Bert was a strong man who was deeply devoted to family, especially his wife of almost 62 years, Emily. He was a man of courage. A man of strength. A man of action. A man of compassion. Born in the depression era, he learned to value what truly mattered in life: Family. He was a skilled craftsman and had many hobbies including working with stained glass, wood carving and building model ships. He created many beautiful works of art including a violin which Emily loved to play. Words cannot express how much he will be missed by his wife, Emily, his children Donna, Lois (Corey), Janice and Glenn (Susan), his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by a sister Melba Imrie. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at St. Anthony Daniel Catholic Church, 29 Midland Dr., Kitchener at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be forwarded to the Grand River Hospital Foundation in Kitchener.
