Born in 1928 in Morse, Saskatchewan and moved to Ontario at the age of nine, daughter of the late William and Hattie Sanders. Predeceased by her sisters Florence and Violet and brothers William and George. She is survived by many nieces and nephews and dear friends Ken Watson and Blaine Morrison whom she has known for over 50 years.
Gladys attended the CNIB school in Brantford and worked at Dare Foods and Smiles and Chuckles in Kitchener. She served on the advisory board for CNIB Waterloo County and had monthly dinners and entertainment at Huronia Hall on Borden Ave in Kitchener. Gladys loved to knit and every Christmas the rush would be on to complete it all for friends and family. And the clocks! She had so many clocks. Cuckoo, chime, talking, and of course Braille watches and alarm clocks! Every one (including the clock on the stove) had to be the same exactly to the minute or she wasn’t happy. This was quite a task to get them all synchronized with the time change each spring and fall. She was also an avid Blue Jays, Toronto Maple Leafs and Kitchener Rangers fan.
Gladys you will be missed.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 19 at 2 pm at Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, 1001 Ottawa St. S. Kitchener. Donations in Gladys’s memory may be made to the CNIB.
