Ion was born in a small harbor town named Corabia, Romania. He is survived by his sister Lucia Calomfirescu (the late Gheorghe), and his two brothers Marian (Elizabeth) and Gheorghe (Florica). He is predeceased by his parents; Macarie and Teodora, brother Mihai, his wife Mary and their son Costin.
After completing highschool in Corabia, Ion went to University in Bucharest to become a mechanical engineer. In 1965 he met and married Jenny, and together they started their lives in Canada in 1990. He was a wonderful person and will be missed by his friends and family.
Ion’s family wishes to thank Dr. Pankarican, Dr. Rondilla, Dr. Gulan, Dr. Fawlis, Dr. Trussler, Dr. McKinnen and Dr. Martin, as well as social worker Sakina from Grand River Hospital for their care and compassion.
A private family visitation and service will be held.
