Jack spent many of his formative years in Preston, where he forged lifelong friendships and created countless memories—stories he would often share with warmth and fondness.
Though he made his life in Canada, he always carried his Irish roots with pride- in his spirit, his storytelling, and his unmistakable charm. Jack will be deeply missed by his children: Jill (Matt) Mike (Heidi) and Dan (Emma-Louise). He was a loving and steady presence in their lives, always offering support, humour, and thoughtful guidance.
He was deeply loved by his grandchildren Elijah, Sofia, Evelyn, Madison, Lillian, Myles, Kale and Reneigh who brought him immense pride and joy.
He was a devoted brother to Marie, Brendan (Hazel), and Jim. Uncle Jack will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his many nieces and nephews.
A passionate drummer, Jack found great joy behind his kit and proudly played as a member of the band Amish. Music was part of who he was — steady, rhythmic, and full of life. Outside of music, Jack loved the outdoors. He treasured camping trips, peaceful canoe rides, and time spent surrounded by nature. He also had a deep love for his dogs, who were constant companions and brought him endless comfort and happiness.
Jack always took pride in his looks and wasn’t shy about checking the mirror(often), making sure his hair was just right, he always had a bottle of hairspray within arm’s reach. His playful vanity, charm, and confident grin were all part of what made him uniquely Jack, and those stories will continue to bring laughter for years to come.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Extendicare Columbia Forest for their compassion, kindness, and dedicated care. They have been deeply touched by the many stories shared about the joy he brought to those who lived and worked there. He quickly became the heart of the community and, by all accounts, the life of the home, bringing laughter and a touch of mischief — especially among the ladies who adored his charm.
Jack’s memory will live on through the music he played, the laughter he sparked, the love he gave, and the family he cherished so dearly.
Cremation has taken place and a time of remembrance will be held by the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Jack’s memory to support music education for children in the Kitchener-Waterloo area through the Kiwanis Music Education Fund, which provides scholarships and opportunities for young music students in the community.
