

Dearly loved husband of 59 years to Margaret, and cherished father of Anthony , Anne and Kevin (and spouses). John leaves precious memories with his six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
John was an exceptional individual, educated historian, and a master model builder who proudly donated his model of the 74-gun warship the “HMS Bellerophon” to the naval museum in Calgary. He held the position of Sergeant in the British Army post World War II, and was an avid adventurer and explorer who loved to travel. He is also remembered as a philanthropist who wholeheartedly supported various charitable causes including World Vision and the Food Bank. John was an accomplished writer, researcher and avid genealogist. He was active socially as an advocate for the common man and was a frequent citizen contributor to the editorial pages of local media. John is best remembered for his phenomenal sense of humor and was almost always able to evoke laughter, fun and good cheer in others.
Friends are welcomed to celebrate John’s good life at the Westmount Funeral Chapel, on Wednesday, September 17th from 2-4 p.m. Cremation has taken place.
