

John Robert Schleicher, age 66, of Kitchener, passed into life eternal on Tuesday morning, May 6, 2025. He was a faithful child of Christ Jesus and was baptised and confirmed at Bethel Lutheran Church (Kitchener).
John was the son of Henry and the late Leonita Schleicher. Dear brother of Rick (Annette), Gary (Kimberley), and Anita Nikelski (Peter). Loved uncle of Katherine Callahan (Ryan), Kira Dennis (Drew), Alec Schleicher (Diane), Michelle Nikelski (Harry), and Steven Nikelski, and great uncle of Charlie Callahan, Carson Dennis and Camden Schleicher.
John was an avid sports fan. He loved playing soccer and road hockey with his brothers and friends. He was a Kitchener Rangers season ticket holder for over 30 years and attended games with his uncles and father. He followed the Toronto Maples Leafs, the Blue Jays and the Hamilton Tiger Cats. John loved his nieces and nephews and enjoyed joking and playing games with them. His pet budgie bird was a companion for many years of his life.
John appreciated working his jobs over the years at Central Meat Market and Price Choppers. He had many regular customers who enjoyed his company and getting the latest sports scores. John suffered through a long illness and was lovingly taken care of by the nurses and staff at AgeCare West Williams and prior to at Fergus Place Retirement Community. Also tremendous thanks to Cathy Bieman and Maureen Jordan for their loving physical and spiritual support to John. He is now in peace and surrounded by joy.
John's family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 from 10:00 - 10:45 a.m. at Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, 1001 Ottawa St. S., Kitchener, (519-743-8900), where the funeral service will be held in the chapel at 11:00 a.m., or may be viewed online at: https://funeraweb.tv/en/diffusions/106466
A time of refreshment and fellowship will then be held, followed by the interment at St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Kitchener. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) or Parents for Community Living would be appreciated by the family.
