Manuel Tavares De Medeiros

Born: October 19, 1933 in Rabo De Peixe, San Miguel, Portugal

Died: Saturday, July 1, 2017 at the Freeport Campus of Grand River Hospital at the age of 83.

Manuel was a son of the late Manuel and Rosa (Ines-Pacheco) Medeiros, and was born in Portugal, but moved to Canada in 1956. Beloved husband of Maria Jesus (nee De Aguiar-Amaral) Medeiros. Dear father of Manuel Medeiros, Luis Medeiros and Irene Medeiros. Will be sadly missed by his grandsons, Trevor, Matthew, Cody, Kevin, and Kyle Medeiros. Will be sadly missed by his brothers, Joseph Medeiros, Basil Medeiros, and sister Adrianna De Mello. Manuel was predeceased by his father-in-law Antonio Pimentel Amaral, his mother-in-law Maria De Rosario Aguiar, his brother-in-law Antonio Pimentel Aguiar, his sister-in-law Maria Da Conceicao Aguiar, his brother Eduardo Medeiros, his brother-in-law Joseph De Mello, and sister-in-law Irene Medeiros. Manuel was an avid gardener, and spent most of his summer in the garden. He was also an avid fisherman and loved nature. He loved to challenge his grandsons on their geography knowledge. He always got excited when he knew more than they did. He also loved to tell stories of his homeland, and you could feel the love he had for it, and that he missed it. We’re sure he is now above his home country with one of the most beautiful gardens you have ever laid eyes on. Manuel’s family will receive relatives and friends at Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, 1001 Ottawa St. S., Kitchener, (519-743-8900) on Wednesday, July 5, 2017, from 6 – 9 pm, where the Funeral Liturgy will be held in the chapel on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 11:00 am, with Fr. Brian Quigley officiating. Interment will follow in Williamsburg Cemetery, 1541 Fischer Hallman Rd., Kitchener.
