Maria Bagiu

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of my dear beloved mother, Maria Bagiu who passed away peacefully at home on November 30, 2024 at the age of 88. The Lord blessed Maria with a loving family, cherished friends and a long, happy life.

Predeceased by her husband John (2022) and survived by her cherished daughter Lina, and her niece Maria of Serbia. She will be missed by many nieces and nephews and extended family. Maria is predeceased by her sister Ekatarina Stanciu and her nephew Traian Stanciu and will also be missed by her furry companions Bella and Kitty.

Maria came to Canada in 1961 with her husband John and small child Lina for a better life. She was a long time employee of Kaufman Footwear where she made many life long friends. A devoted wife and nature lover, she shared many adventures with her husband, including camping trips to Goderich. She also found solace in gardening, baking, and preparing delicious homemade meals.

Maria's heart was filled with happiness when she was with her family and friends especially during the holidays, building strong bonds and creating beautiful memories.

Special thanks are extended to Maria's family doctor, Dr. Chettimada for his many years of supportive and compassionate care. The family is deeply grateful for the kindness and compassion shown by the nursing staff at Care Partners and the many PSWs who tended to Maria's needs with the utmost care.

Family and friends may visit at Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, 1001 Ottawa St. S., Kitchener, (519-743-8900) on Thursday, December 5, 2025 from 4:00 to 9:00 pm and Friday December 6, 2024 from 10:00 to 11:00 am, with the funeral service commencing at 11:00 am. Interment to follow Woodland Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the KW Humane Society in support of Maria's love for animals.
