Beloved wife of the late Silvano Da Silva (2020). Dear mother of Henrique (Laurie), Joe (Adele), and Silvano. Loved grandmother of Christopher, Samuel, Darion, Angela, Jeffery, James, and Catherine and great grandmother of Lucas, Leah, and Lyvia.
Maria came to Canada from Pico, Azores, Portugal to start a new life on July 14th, 1959 with her husband and two boys. It was a time of hardship where the work was hard and the pay was little. Each passing day she laboured in the tobacco fields where the days were hot and long. She also worked side jobs scrubbing floors on her knees and no matter how much pain she was in she stayed strong for her family. As years passed, she worked the factory by day, worm picking by night and yet always found time for her children. It wasn't easy but she managed. Life was a struggle, but for her family from all the hardships the Canadian Dream came to be and she welcomed a third son. Long ago the entire family gathered for a family BBQ swapping stories of the past. It was a time of seriousness and laughter. Now that she is gone, all of us that were close to her are missing her. Her memory will remain in our hearts for all time.
