Mary passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 4, 2026. Born on May 6, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Patricia Lavigne. She is now reunited with her beloved husband Allan, the love of her life, who passed in 2010.
Mary was a proud and devoted mom to Patrick (Melissa), Richard (Julie), and Andrew (Deb). Her greatest joy was being “Grandma” to Matthew, Josh, Anna, Alexander (Quinn), Colin (Faith), Ethan, and Symon, and being Great Grandma to Ella and Theodore—roles she wore with endless pride and love.
She will be deeply missed by her brothers Wayne (Karen) and John, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Mary was predeceased by her brothers Lawrence and Harold.
Mary truly lived for her family. She was kind to her core, the type of person who made everyone feel welcome and cared for. She was a mom not just to her own children, but to anyone who needed one. Kenney’s house was always open—whether you were stopping by for a meal, a cup of coffee, or just a good chat, there was always a place for you at her table.
She loved her books, especially romance novels, and could often be found cheering on the Blue Jays or the Maple Leafs. Simple joys, family gatherings, and time spent together meant everything to her.
Mary leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and quiet strength. She will be missed more than words can say.
Cremation has taken place. Family will receive guests for visitation on Friday, February 13, 2026, at Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, 1001 Ottawa St., S., Kitchener, from 11:00 am until 12:45 pm. Memorial Service to follow at 1:00 pm.
As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to Anselma House.
