Mary "Philomine" Petch

Mary Philomine Petch (nee Girodat) in her 81st year, passed away at St. Mary’s hospital on May 2nd, 2021.

Predeceased by daughter Carmen, son Michael, and parents Thelma and Patrick Girodat. She is survived by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brothers Michael Girodat (Marg), Ed Girodat (Janet), sisters Rosemary (Bob) Kieswetter and Pauline Bogue (Murray Ball), and many nieces and nephews.

Phil’s interest in music was well known to her fellow blues’ fans and musicians, especially Miss Angel and her late husband, Mel Brown. She was a frequent patron at local Blues venues and the Blues Festival. With limited formal training, she was a talented pianist.

Phil’s motto was “always look your best when you’re stepping out” and she did.

The family wishes to thank the doctors and 5th floor staff of St. Mary’s Hospital for their care and compassion.

A private graveside service will take place in the near future. A celebration of life will take place post-Covid.
