Patricia passed peacefully into the spiritual world on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Forest Heights Long Term Care. Beloved wife for 50 years of Reinhold Kauk; much loved mother of Daniel, Rebecca Miller (Don) and Timothy; adored by her three granddaughters, Ngazi Clea Obioha and Michaela and Paige Kauk. Also survived by her brother Robert Peer (Joan) and nieces Jennifer (Norm) and Julie (Chris). Predeceased by her parents Marjorie and J. Morley Peer.
Patricia came to Kitchener in 1960 to teach German and French at Eastwood Collegiate (1960 – 1965), and then retired to raise a family. Later, when her children were older, she joined the staff in the Grace Schmidt Room of the Kitchener Public Library. She was very interested in local history and worked there until retiring at age 65. Her greatest pleasure and satisfaction at the KPL involved translating into English material from the early German language Berlin (Kitchener) newspaper. She continued this task as a volunteer for a number of years after her retirement.
The immediate family will hold an interment service for her on Monday, March 2nd. A memorial service honouring her life and work will be held at the Carmel New Church, 40 Chapel Hill Dr., Kitchener on Saturday, March 7 at 2:00 p.m.. Patricia’s family will receive relatives and friends in the church hall after the service.
We wish to express our sincere thanks to Dr. Kennel and the staff of Forest Heights Long Term Care for the gentle, patient and cheerful care extended to Patricia at all times.
