Peter Aloysius Fitzgerald

Peacefully surrounded with love at Conestoga Lodge on Monday, January 29, 2018 in his 93rd year. Dearly loved husband of 65 years to Margaret and cherished father of Jerome Fitzgerald (Pauline), Ann Marie Fitzgerald (Barb Hobin), Maureen Landry (Gus), Mary Fitzgerald, Peter Fitzgerald (Kathy) and Bernard Fitzgerald (Marie-France). Predeceased by his children Richard Fitzgerald (2009) and Margaret Fitzgerald (Polinsky) (2017).Precious memories are left with Peter’s 19 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws. Peter moved his family in 1962 from Bell Island, Newfoundland to Kitchener. Since then Peter was a member of Sacred Heart Parish where he was very involved in Parish Ministry and devoted to caring for the poor. He will be fondly missed by the loving staff and residents of Conestoga Lodge Retirement Home. His foundation of life was built upon God, Family and Community. A special thank you to Fr. Stan at Sacred Heart Parish and Fr. Brian Quigley from St. Joseph’s Parish.

Family and friends will be received at the Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, 1001 Ottawa St. S., on Thursday, February 1st, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Vigil Prayers will be at 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated from Sacred Heart Parish, 66 Shanley St., on Friday, February 2nd, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Parkview Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to St. Vincent de Paul Society, Sacred Heart Parish or the charity of one’s choice would be greatly appreciated.
