It is hard to believe a whole year has passed since Robert left us. We think of him often and it brings a smile to our faces  remembering how funny he was and tears to our eyes for missing him. You have been strong and we admire you for that. He will always watch over you and you will always carry your love for him in your heart.

One of my memories of Robert, playing pool in the Cumbernauld Labour Party Social Club on a Friday night.   We teamed up for doubles, we won 16 frames in a row, must be a record.   Enjoyed our Friday night's.   Keep your chin up, maybe we will see you over here in the not to distant future.   Thinking about you.

Dear Margaret, Sending our deepest condolences to you and your family. Although we were your neighbours in Greenhaven for a short time, we recall Robert’s great sense of humour, funny fish stories and his neighbourly kindness. After we moved, it was always a pleasure to see you both walking down the strip or along the boardwalk enjoying a beautiful sunset, sometimes with your beloved grandchildren. It is with a very heavy heart that today we will celebrate the life of my good pal and neighbour Robert Landsborough, as our neighbours and great friends Margret and Robert became our family friends, over the last 20 years,
Robert was a very helpful guy to just about anyone who needed it, weather it was a garden project, some carpenter ,or help with a trailer issue up in Grandbend, everybody knew Robert was the guy,

We used to watch how much he enjoyed  the time with his boys, always busy,  fishing,  sledges, or bicycle training, great memories now to cherish,
One of my regular things in life was to start on a projecton our house, then wait for a knock on my door from Robert to give help and advice, I think honestly we both enjoyed working together on stuff,

Robert Just loved being Grandpa and Dad and friend
,A very contented guy, happy with life,
 Mary and I will miss him dearly, as will everyone who knew him,

Dear Margaret, Steven and Christine, we are all so sorry to hear about Robert. Al has great memories of his time in Canada and in Scotland - spending time with you all and having fun with Uncle Robert. He remembers him as cheery, fun, cheeky with a dry sense of humour. He always remember his high construction standards and we were very pleased when we were awarded the "Robert Landsborough Building Standards Seal of Approval " for our extension! Some people know him as Bob, Bobby, Rab but it was always Robert to me. Springburn boy born and bred, moved to cranhill, met Margaret, got married and they started there life together in dennistoun. Moved to Cumbernauld and then to Canada. I have great memories of Meadow park with Robert growing up. Ibrox was always like a second home to us, All the family were Rangers daft. I will miss you Brother,  R.I.P.  Our thoughts go with Margaret, Steven, Christine and the Kids.

Margaret, Christine, Steven and family. So sad to hear the news about Robert. Although we never saw enough of each other I always enjoyed the time we spent together. Robert had a great sense of humour and I loved our trips to Canada and when you came to Scotland. Uncle Robert will be truly missed.

Remembering Robert from when we were children  but  we didn’t see much of one another after that .   A sadly missed cousin.

What can I say Margaret, Steven and Christine. I so miss all those Saturday phone calls from Glasgow to Kitchener when they talked for hours about football and I just know they’re now talking to their hearts content about their beloved Rangers.  They were two exceptional men and we were lucky to have them.

Our family is so sorry to hear about Roberts passing. Liam and I have a lot of very fond memories of spending time with Robert and Margret up at the trailer. I remember being so excited to see that red car in the driveway across the way when we got to spend weekends in Grand Bend with Grandma and Papa. I will always cherish our after dinner walks with Abby down the Grand Bend strip to the pier, swimming at the beach and  getting to go on fishing trips. I know Liam will always remember Robert helping him learn how to ride a bike up at the trailer. We were very lucky to have known Robert and spend so much time with him and Margret growing up. It felt like we had a third set of grandparents. We are so saddened by his loss but will always keep those memories of Grand bend close to our hearts. Our thoughts go out to Margret and his many family and friends during this difficult time.

Dear Bob
We met over 40 years ago and over that time have shared many experiences …  coaching soccer, both boys and girls; and highland dancing when our daughters were young. Your woodworking skills were unequalled as was your willingness to help without being asked: our schoolhouse, workshop shed, erecting fences, building bookcases, etc. Whenever we drive past your house, I’m reminded of the time we re-shingled your roof, doing electrical work; also helping you diagnose problems with your cars.  
Bob, we’ll miss you. Heaven doesn’t realize what a remarkable set of skills you have. I just hope you’ll  have the proper tools and an adequate source of material.

The passing of Robert  was such a shock for Etta  and Ian that memories have only now come into focus. From Ian, he can recall football on a Saturday morning in Glasgow  and the enjoyment of all, at playing a game we loved. Etta remembers the surprise visit of Robert and  Margaret to Grannies Heilan  Hame in Dornoch  and Roberts reaction to a fish supper , it did not go down well. As Margaret's  sister Etta would have really wanted to be there to support  the family but  time and distance was against that. We loved our visits to Canada and the hospitality both in Kitchener and Grand Bend and we can appreciate Roberts love for it. We pray for God's blessing on all  the family at this sad time.

Please accept our very deepest sympathy on the loss of a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, cousin and friend. Robert always had a smile on his face.  Whether he stopped to chat with us or someone else, whether riding his bicycle to and fro, whether down at the pier catching fish or having no luck, he always smiled. His positive attitude was contagious. We enjoyed hearing tales of his days and work in Scotland and his coming to Canada, his stories of what happened down at the pier this past week, or what we could expect with the weekend weather. He will be missed. His legacy will live on in the many memories his friends have of him and in the stories his children and grandchildren tell of him. You are in our thoughts and prayers Margaret. Marg (Mrs. Landsborough), Steven and Christine, I am so sorry about your loss. Of all my dad's friends, Mr. Landsborough has always been my favorite.  The combination of his Scottish accent and jokester personality, made the room or place you were in brighter and better. Hard to believe he was my first soccer coach over 42 years ago.  I have so many memories I could put here, but the one for me is hearing him say (in his accent) "here comes Big Tim!"

There is a saying "wherever a beautiful soul has been, there is a trail of beautiful memories.'' So true of Robert.  He was such an amazing man, there are not enough words to describe him...caring, sincere, jolly, and a great fishing buddy! What's left now are wonderful memories over a span of many years.  Deepest, heartfelt sympathy to you Margaret and your family.  It was a pleasure to know Robert.  We hope these words can offer you some peace and comfort.  Stay strong.


 Leslie and I will always remember Robert  as a great neighbour and friend, a skilled craftsman , and most of all a dedicated husband, father and grandfather!

Margaret and family: we are heart broken and shocked over your beloved Robert. We had so many laughs at the pot lucks over the many years. He was such a handyman and helped us when we needed it. Margaret and family - We are at a loss for words to express our shock and sorrow at the loss of Robert. What a kind, helpful, wonderful trailer neighbour for over 16 years. He loved to stir up our now passed poodle, Molson, every time he passed by telling him to bark up a storm. Molson loved to see Robert and get his attention. Robert loved apple butter on his toast every morning and when I made him a batch and gave him the recipe he was so excited and didn’t waste time making it for himself. 
Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal! We will miss him.

Mike & I were Margaret & Roberts neighbours on Highview Dr. We lived there when Steven and Christine were little. Robert would tease me all the time, while Margaret was just being her sweet self. Robert & I would throw banter at one another. He always had you laughing! I mean really laughing 😂 I would call him my crazy Scottish neighbour.  I still remember those times, they were very special. How very lucky were we to have the perfect Scottish Family living next door.

Margaret (aka Granny), Christine, Ken, Steven and the boys, I am so deeply sorry for your loss. Grandpa was an incredible man who touched the lives of everyone who was blessed to know him. I will never forget telling him that I was moving into the house I am in now just months after he installed a new floor in my old place. “Next time you move don’t call me, I’m not doing any thing else or moving you ever again” is what he said with a smirk and a grin :) Grandpa was always there to lend a helping hand, to crack a silly joke and let’s not forget the Christmas dinner history lessons that Tamara will never forget. We loved Grandpa like our own. 
Granny, what can I say to you as words fall short of expressing my sorrow. I know that your heart is crushed and many tears are being shed. I hope you find strength in the happy memories and the love that you shared with Grandpa. He certainly was a proud and loyal man who raised a beautiful family. I am a better person for having known him. Christine and Steven, life doesn't seem fair sometimes and this is one of those moments. Losing a dad is extremely difficult because you are losing a source of strength, stability and consistency in your lives. I know that Grandpa’s children and the grand boys meant the world to him. He left you with precious memories and his love can still be your guide. I join you in your sorrow and wish you peace and healing during this sad time.  Xoxoxo


Margaret, Steven, Christine & Ken & Grandpa’s special boys (Cameron, Blake & Lewis) - our hearts have been breaking these last few weeks since Robert’s sudden illness.  We kept waiting to hear his strong healthy body would help him survive.   Please know that we’re thinking of all of you (Steven in Japan) and we’re here if you need any help.  Robert was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone for any reason.   He’ll be missed by all who knew him.  We hope in time that all of your special memories will heal your hearts & souls.
