Passed away at the Westmount Retirement Residence on Saturday, September 26, 2015, at the age of 89 years. Beloved husband of the late Alyse (nee Grogan) Wylie (2013). Dear father of Roberta Hickey (Jim), Terri Clarke (Art), and Veronica Wylie. Loving grandfather of Amanda, Robert, Nicki (Derek), Robin, and Ben (Keirsten) and great grandfather of Madeleine and Martin. Dear brother of Tom Wylie. Predeceased by his beloved granddaughter Tara and by his sister Marion. Bob grew up in Montreal and worked for many years for Sun Life Assurance. He later moved to a house in Mississauga where he became a joyful gardener. In April of 2015, a widower, he moved to Kitchener. Bob was a devoted husband and father. In the early years of marriage, he worked many part time jobs to supplement his full time work to provide for his family. Rather than complain, these jobs became the subject of stories and songs to regale his family. Bob filled the family home with love, laughter and spontaneous fun. Memorable were the “get back in the car picnics”. Bob was especially happy when children and grandchildren gathered at Christmas and he acted the part of Santa, handing out presents. Bob was proud of his handicapping skills and was part owner of a number of race horses. One of Bob’s joys in life was watching baseball. He was fortunate to see Jackie Robinson play in Montreal. When he left Quebec he became an ardent Blue Jays fan. It was his hope that he would get to see them play a third time in the World Series. The center of Bob’s existence was his beloved wife of over 60 years, his Alyse. Together they enjoyed raising their family, cottaging in the Quebec Laurentians, playing bridge and after retirement, wintering in Florida. When Alyse needed care in later years, he devoted himself to looking after her. Bob will be greatly missed by his friends and family. Family and friends are invited to share remembrances of Bob and celebrate his life on Saturday, October 10, 2015, from 1:00 – 4:00 pm at The Cedar Hill Schoolhouse, 270 Cedar Hill Rd., Pakenham, Ontario. If desired, donations would be appreciated to the Syrian refugee crisis through Oxfam Canada (www.oxfam.ca or 1-800-466-9326) . Arrangements entrusted to Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, 1001 Ottawa St. S., Kitchener, (519-743-8900). Online condolences at www.westmountfuneralchapel.com
