I had the privledge of being one of Rod's caregivers three mornings a week. He always greeted me with a smile, even the mornings I had to rouse him out of a deep snore filled sleep! Working with Rod was never a chore. He always had a funny story or joke to tell.  Both he and Judy always made me feel welcomed and appreciated.  My time spent in the MacKay household truly was a gift. Rest in peace Rod.

My sincerest condolences to Judy, Jamie, Jenn, and families. It was a privilege to have grown up knowing this hilarious, kind, and extremely positive man. Rod made everything more fun! All of my memories of Rod bring a huge smile to my face. There are too many to tell, but the Christmas card and exploding golf ball tricks he pulled on my dad were both epic! So many great memories of camping and fishing while growing up. You are in our thoughts. May you rest in peace Rod.

Judy ,Jen, Jamie and families you have our greatest sympathy at this time. It is well know if you are blessed with great friends or neighbors your life will be much more rewarding. Well our family has had both for many years . The memories  that our families have of crossing that invisible boundary between  our properties will never fade. I will miss having the (odd) shot of scotch  with Rod and he sharing the good stuff with me. But most of all my friend I cannot thank you enough for the times we shared together. We can vividly remember the weekend our families spent together up at the  "little piece of heaven" --it was a blast!

Dear Judy,
Our deepest sympathy to you , Jamie and Jennie and family.

Rod was truly “one of a kind”. He was loved by all who knew him.  So many fond memories of him coming over to Dunsmere Court, one late night in particular to go off with Doug to break up a “bush party” and reap the benefit of all the abandoned beers the next morning.
Another occasion at Halloween he came calling , a buxom lady in heels and then proceeded to spend the next few hours at the kitchen table having a few beers , smoking cigars and just generally having a good visit.
Your family even acquired their beloved Fidget from our dog’s first litters.
I think Fidget may have spent a lot of time  on Rod’s lap!
Rod did not pick or choose his friends, conversation came easy to him and he made everyone welcome.
Judy , you and your family  helped Rod enjoy all the years he was confined to the chair with his illness and rest assured, he knew he was loved.

Judy, you and Rod have been close friends of ours for over forty years. Mary and I are truly saddened by Rod’s passing. Deepest sympathies to you, Jamie , Jen and families for your terrible loss. I can’t help but think of all the good times we had together. Whether it was parties, rooting the kids on in sports, vacations together or just dinners together we always seemed to laugh ourselves silly. I think of the crazy fishing trips, hockey trips to Pittsburgh and other things we did with the guys. I will miss my best buddy.

We fondly remember the gatherings for lunch at Kennedy's in St. Agatha with our friends Rod and Judy and Bob and Rhea.  There was always laughter at the table with much reminiscing about "back in the day".   Rod always had a smile and shared his stories that kept all  of us in stitches.

My sincere condolences to Judy, Jamie, Jennie and family. It has been a long time since we hung out but it feels like yesterday. My memories of Rod will always be with me. He was like a father to me and your family welcomed me in to your home with love and friendship.  Rod was an amazing person with a heart so big. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. 

My sincere condolences to Judy, James, Jenn and families. So many childhood memories of camping (I think we covered most of Ontario) and our trip to Vanvouver in 1986 (Bloody Hell!). Rod's humour and pranks constantly kept us on our toes. I remember being in the car with Rod, Judy, and Jenn(ie) when Rod pretended that the car had no brakes. I think we were driving down Elora Gorge (or something equivalent). Jenn(ie) and I were in tears and of course Rod was laughing and Judy was most likely giving him the gears!  May he rest in peace. 

Very sad to hear of my cousin Rod’s death.  Many fond memories. Spent alot of good times at his family farm as a child. He always saw the funny side of things and had great patience with myself and other younger cousins who visited the farm frequently. Aunt Edith was so kind to invite us out for holidays in the summer.  Heaven has a new Angel. 


It seems like yesterday we were all in high school together, ..........Graduation parties, weddings, families started.......great memories made.........now in our senior years we have these to smile about.  
Rod always had a smile on his face & his chuckle never changed, and Judy was always at his side........

Rodney! So loved and will be greatly missed. I don’t know what I would be today with out this man and family in my life. I was truly blessed. 
I’ll never forget Rod siphoning gas from his car to mine so I could get home! 
Or skiing with him in his antique boots and ski representing himself as a Rep for Sleemans! So many wonderful fun memories and laughter with him! I’ll never forget you Rod! I was so blessed to have you in my life. 

Our heartfelt condolences to all. Big Spotty is especially heartbroken and will miss one of his greatest friends. Good Lord we had such fun times growing up with the MacKays! Always a  cold beer, a card game, and an open door to their home. Roddy chuckling and telling stories, keeping us on our toes. Ralph and Rod, Johnny and Jamie - the best of friends who always had each others' back. I am comforted knowing Johnny and Roddy are sitting at the bar laughing their heads off together. Other than remembering Rodney's hearty laugh, I recall going to someone's birthday party with all the boys. The present I bought wasnt wrapped, so Rodney went out of his way to wrap the gift for me. I remember thinking how kind that was of him.
