Loving husband of Donna for 50 years. Devoted father to Trevor (Morgan) and Nick (Amy) and loving Grandpa to Imogen and Poppy. Ron is survived by his siblings; Sandra (David), Rosemary (Rick), and Jean (the late Boyd) and predeceased by Earl (2000), Alfred (1994) and Doris (2021). Son to the late Albert and Florence.
Ron had a life-long enthusiasm for music. As a child, he played in the boys band in Guelph, trying out various instruments, including the violin, the clarinet, and bass fiddle, before settling on the guitar as his instrument of choice. Ron also enjoyed watching the Blue Jays, whatever tennis tournament was on television, and curling, too! Most of all, he enjoyed following the exploits of his granddaughters, whom he adored. Not a day went by where he didn’t keep up with local news. Before health issues made moving around more challenging, Ron and Donna vacationed multiple times in Cuba and attended a goodly number of classic car nights in and around Waterloo Region, where Ron could show off his 1977 Ford LTD: black with the Landau top! He was also an accomplished player of darts, as a fair few folks learned at the Army and Navy Club. Ron was happy to see just about all of his close friends and family in November, 2023, when he and Donna celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Visitation will be held at Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, 1001 Ottawa Street S. on Tuesday, June 18 from 6-9 pm. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, June 19th at 2:00 pm with visiting an hour prior. Private family burial will take place the following day.
