I have been good friends with Rudy since childhood as we often had family get togethers as his parents and mine were close friends. Many great childhood memories and family feasts at their house and my parents house. We often golfed when were were kids and into our 20s.  We reconnected in recent years again through Facebook and phone chats, and we were honoured to have Rudy come over and join me in birthday celebrations in recent years. Rudy was a compassionate, kind man with a great sense of humour.  I would sometimes see and briefly chat with Rudy while on a run past his apartment, or going to the nearby school as a volunteer. We shared golf stories right to the end of July, with his last comment to me about missing a putt "..well then, next time put the ball in the hole, not beside it".  Our childhood nicknames (Rudy was Strudel and I was Gruppel, and my sister was Bosl) stuck to this day.  You'll be missed, Rudy, and I know you will continue to chuckle from heaven each and every time I miss a short putt and lose yet another beer to the competition. 

I met Rudy through a mutual friend, Sue Dewan.
The 3 of us went to many events that where held throughout the city during summer months.
We enjoyed the blues fest, buskers or even places like a local patio where we would exchange stories over some food and drinks.
Rudy was a very caring, compassionate person who always looked forward to spending time with friends.

I am beside myself as I have just discovered that Rudy has passed away. He was a good friend. We met at Trios College when he attended there a few years ago. I was an employee there and I looked forward to our daily chats. After he completed his course, we remained friends and  would meet at Crabby Joes every couple of weeks for a cold beer. Since Covid came back in March we hadn't seen each other but we chatted daily on Facebook. I became concerned that I hadn't heard from him since early August so I googled his name to see if he was in an accident, or something. I was shocked, and I'm still shocked that he is no longer with us. I will truly miss him. He was a wonderful, caring man who loved animals and a nice cold beer. He told me all about his 'pig' collection but I never actually saw them. My heart goes out to Rudy's family and friends. I will miss him dearly. <3 

I was very saddened to hear about Rudy's death. I have good memories of his participation in many of the Alpine Club activities, especially the Gottscheer Open Golf Tournament.

Rudy was a classmate of mine a few years ago taking a supply chain and logistics college program.  I enjoyed his witty humour,  and admired his intelligence to come up with solutions and share them amongst his peers. I was fortunate to have a cold brew sharing Our career experiences post college. You will be sadly missed my friend. Rest Easy, you’re in Gods Hands now. 

Rudy was a good friend during highschool years and for some years beyond but we remained in contact through FB. Of course there are memories of the 500 club, but I will never forget playing pick-up hockey with him. He liked to call it the soup-timers league, where I called him Schoenuff and he called me Runzo. Those nicknames remain today during occasional FB exchanges. May he now be at rest.

I know his donation request would be the Animals above all else. Big part of what brought us together was our love of animals 

I'll miss you so much Rudy. We shared a year of such a crazy Love. I hope whoever is in charge of your final wishes knows what they are. Your Creamains sprinkled along the Highway leading to your buddies cottage near Kincardin , Sandman full blast with major base!!! How many times you told me that in last few yrs & I told you I'd always remember. I pray you told someone else so you'd get your last wish. I MISS you everyday, always have, always will. You broke my heart in the end but know it was in my best interest. I have a wonderful man now, who I wouldn't have if not for you. RIP my Rudy, you deserved more than you had in life. You were too giving to those that took advantage of you when you had something to give. When you were down some totally "forgot " about you. You were who you were, never far from my thoughts. I'm glad we spent New Years eve & day together.  Di

I was very fortunate to have Rudy as a classmate during our grade school and high school years.  I reflect with a lot of laughs and great memories.  In particular; the morning coffee and danish ritual with Ellie at the 2x4, the May 2-4 weekends in Kincardine, sharing a glass of Black Horse beer and enjoying long rides in the 68 Mustang.  A few of the old friends played golf with Rudy a couple of years ago  - he made it a lasting memory by presenting each of us with a custom made "500 Club" ball cap.   Sensitive - caring - and one of the smartest guys that I will ever meet in my lifetime.  I vividly recall snapping the iconic, evening silhouette photo of Rudy on the shores of Lake Huron.   I know that this is a photo he treasured and it proves that indeed a picture is worth a thousand words. .... it is tough to lose a legend.

Ups and downs, we remained friends. I'll miss your silly jokes, having a cold beer, watching horror movies with you and your piggy collection. Rest well my friend. XO
 

Rudy was a very kind and sincere person.   I had the pleasure of being his dance partner with the Alpine Dancers for a number of years.  One of my special memories is from Oktoberfest.  Each year, at the end of a very busy week of performances, Rudy would present me with a single rose as a symbol of thanks and friendship.  I will always remember this very special gesture.  
More recently I had the opportunity to speak with Rudy on numerous occasions during my evening walk through the neighbourhood.  He always had time for a smile and a hello.  It was nice to catch up again after many years.  My deepest sympathy to the Schoenhoeffer family.  Rudy, may you rest in peace.  Sincerely, Lore Kump

Will miss chatting with Rudy on my walks by his building.  My dog Talos misses him too and constantly watches for him as we walk by.   :(

Rudy will be definitely missed at The Uzelac house. He was such a sweet soul, always a smile and hug for us all. He was the only person we trusted to care for our puppy Kaya, and they absolutlely adored one another. He always went out of his way to find a unique Halloween costume for our party each year, and spent hours telling us about his trip of a lifetime out east.  We will all miss you my friend, and give our condolences to your family.
