Shirley Annette McKie

She was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Robert R. McKie (2003) for over 48 years; dear mother of Kathryn McKie (Kevin Crews), Robert McKie (Tara), Stewart McKie (Kathy Callahan); loving grandmother of Jenna and John Crews and Mason McKie.

Shirley was born and spent her early childhood in Montreal. After her father’s (Clare Marchell) early tragic death, she moved with her mother Shirley M. Marchell (nee Clapham) and brother to Hamilton. She was an English graduate of McMaster University. She and Robert first lived in Guelph and later, as their family grew, resided in Sarnia, Burlington and East Lansing, Michigan before finally settling in Kitchener.

Shirley was predeceased by her brother George Marchell. She is survived by sisters-in-law Helen Marchell and Mary Weldon and their families.

Not only was Shirley a devoted mother, she tirelessly worked alongside her husband and was an integral part in building his practice in psychology. A gracious, intelligent, well spoken, kind woman, Shirley will be dearly missed. A private family service will be held. Expressions of sympathy may be left at: westmountfuneralchapel.com
