

MYNATT, JR., ALLEN “ABIE” G., age 92, passed away peacefully October 21, 2013 at Baptist Healthcare Center in Lenoir City. Mr. Mynatt was born in Knoxville and was a longtime resident of Louisville, Tennessee where he raised his family. He retired from AT & T after 41 years of service and moved to Florida where he enjoyed playing golf at Lehigh Country Club. During his many years of golfing, “Abie” scored 3 hole in ones, 1 at Green Meadow Country Club. Allen was a WWII veteran of the Army Air Corp serving as a Communications Specialist in the Intelligence Corp and later installed the first encryption equipment in Oak Ridge. Preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Dot Mynatt; sisters, Martha Mynatt Myers and Betty Mynatt Bull; son, Charlie Mynatt; parents, Allen G. Mynatt and Beulah Stewart Mynatt. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, David Allen and Jane Allred Mynatt; daughter-in-law, Tina Mynatt; granddaughters, Rachel Mynatt Pryor and husband Jeremy, Amanda Mynatt, and Augusta Aultom and husband Matthew; brother-in-law, Albert Lewis Hensley, several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the nursing staff of Baptist Healthcare Center in Lenoir City for providing such excellent care and for treating “Abie” just like family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Tennessee or to the Breath of Life Support Foundation, P.O. Box 1815, Mt. Juliet, TN 37121. The family will receive friends from 1-2:30 pm, Sunday, October 27, 2013 at Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel of Berry Funeral Home, 2300 Adair Drive, Knoxville, TN.
