Betty Jane McCown, age 86, of Knoxville, went to be with the Lord Friday, December 8, 2017 at her residence. Betty was of the Baptist Faith and retired from Lake Shore Mental Hospital. She was a loving mother and nanny. Preceded in death by parents; 6 sisters and 1 brother; husband, Mayford McCown; son, Allen McCown; grandson, Aron West. Betty is survived by 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Joey Roop and Janet and Jim Broughton; 7 grandchildren, Tonya, Joseph, Tiffany, Kendria, Shane, Cody, and Courtney; 5 great-grandchildren, Garrett, Xander, Liberty, Emree, and Karrigan; brother, Howard Martin; sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Ralph Newcomb; several nieces and nephews; special friend and caregiver, Wilma Nash and a special thank you to UT Hospice. There will be a Celebration of Life Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at 7 pm at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home, 2300 Adair Dr. with Chaplin Dexter officiating.
