Billy Joe Hurst

Billy Joe Hurst, age 87, passed away peacefully in his home on April 7, 2022. He has been reunited with his loving wife, Mary Rose Hurst, and is in the arms of his almighty Lord. Bill was the most loving husband, father, and grandfather. Bill was a long time member of North Knoxville Baptist Church. He loved springtime and took great pride in his yard, spending his days planting flowers and keeping his grass the greenest he could. He also loved a good game of rummy. Bill loved his Michigan family both living and deceased.

Bill proudly served his country through the Marine Corps Reserve. He worked as a security guard at X10 at ORNL where he eventually retired from.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Rose Hurst; father and mother, Samuel James and Ruby Eva Hurst; 8 loving siblings.

Bill is survived by his children, Kim Farmer (Rick), Diane Helton (Hurdle), Greg Hurst, and his precious daughter, Mary Lisa Hurst; brother, Rick Hurst and sister, Sandy Hatfield; grandchildren, Allison Ackermann (Kurt), Drew Barncord (Jill), Tara Gideon, Brandon Hurst (Brittany), Tyler Hurst, Hudson Hurst and Richard Farmer; great grandchildren, Taylor and Brady Ackermann, Trevor and Addison Gideon, Johanna Dowell and Barret Jace, Amelia Rose, and Gunner James Hurst.

The family will receive friends Sunday, April 10th from 1-3pm at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home with funeral service following at 3pm. Rev. Joe Emmert to officiate. Graveside service will be held Monday, April 11th at 3pm, meeting at Lynnhurst Cemetery at 2:45pm.
