

Widner, Billy J., age 80, of Knoxville passed away on Monday, July 22, 2013 at 6:30 am at Tennova Residential Hospice. He was a member of Watson’s Chapel American Christian Church. Bill served two years in the military, including 13 months in Korea. He was proud of his service to our country. Bill retired from Plasti-Line after 41 years. He loved spending time with his children, having get togethers with his family, fishing, skiing, camping, working in his yard, and piddling in his workshop. He is preceded in death by his son and best friend, Darrell Wayne Widner, parents George and Fanny Widner, and sister Roberta Whitaker. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dossie Ford Widner, daughters, Lois Chrisman (Steve), Doris Jennings (Rick), and daughter-in-law, Hope Harbison Widner. He also leaves behind granddaughters Melinda Chrisman Biles (Billy), Sarah Jennings Reed (David), and Caitlin L. Widner, five great grandchildren whom he adored, brother Clay Widner and sisters Pauline Ford of New Tazewell and Euzella Ford of Knoxville, special neighbors and friends Maynard and Gail Capps and Greg Stiner, and a host of family and friends. The family thanks the Hospice nurses, caregivers, and staff for the compassionate care they provided. The family will receive friends at Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel on Wednesday from 6 – 8 pm with a chapel service to follow, Reverend Roy Gose and Reverend Marc Sasser officiating. Family and friends will meet at Lynnhurst Cemetery at 11 am on Thursday for the interment.
