With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Bobby Tip Walker, who peacefully departed this world on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at the age of 84. Born on November 22, 1939, in the Sandlick community of Goin, Tennessee, Bobby spent his life as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and faithful servant of God. In August 1962, Bobby married the love of his life, Judy, a union that lasted 62 beautiful years. Together, they raised four children—Greg, Scott, Randall, and Rebekah—instilling in them the values of hard work, devotion, and love for family. His legacy also lives on through his eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, who cherished their time with him. Bobby and Judy’s love story was one of laughter, adventure, and joy, introduced by his beloved sister, Kathleen Ogle. Their laughter was a constant melody, and they filled their years together with unforgettable travels around the globe, sharing in the beauty of God’s creation. Yet, no matter where they wandered, Bobby always returned to his cherished tomato garden. One of Bobby’s greatest joys was tending to his garden, a labor of love that mirrored the care and devotion he gave to his family. His garden was a sanctuary where he found peace and purpose, and the fruits of his labor were a source of pride. Tomatoes were his specialty, and he could often be found leaning over the kitchen sink, savoring a ripe, homegrown tomato in one hand and a salt shaker in the other. His tomatoes were the stuff of legend, grown with a green thumb and a heart full of passion. Bobby’s garden was more than just a hobby—it was an extension of who he was: patient, hardworking, and deeply connected to the Earth. He cultivated his garden with the same dedication he applied to every aspect of his life. Rows of tomatoes, beans, cucumbers, and other vegetables flourished under his careful watch. Neighbors and family alike were beneficiaries of his bountiful harvests, and many found themselves leaving his home with a bag of freshly picked vegetables in hand. Working the soil brought Bobby immense happiness, and it was in those quiet moments, hands in the dirt, that his love for life and the land truly shone. His garden was a reflection of his soul—rich, nurturing, and full of life. Bobby’s work ethic was unparalleled. For over 50 years, he dedicated himself to the tire industry, earning the respect and admiration of coworkers who fondly nicknamed him "The Reverend" for his unwavering Christian faith. He wasn’t just a hardworking provider for his family—he was also a man of deep faith, having accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior from an early age. A longtime member and deacon at Sevier Heights Baptist Church, Bobby lived each day in the light of God’s grace, leading by example. But Bobby was also a man of humor, with a mischievous streak that brought joy to those around him. Known as a playful prankster, he was notorious for sneaking rubber snakes into his coworkers' desk drawers, ensuring laughter in every room he entered. Bobby grew up on a humble tobacco farm, selling walnuts and blackberries to help his family make ends meet. This early life instilled in him a deep sense of gratitude, perseverance, and generosity, which he carried with him throughout his life. He leaves behind not just a grieving family, but a community forever touched by his kindness, humor, and unwavering devotion. His love for his family was unmatched, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him. Though we will miss him dearly, we take comfort in knowing that Bobby is now home with his Savior, resting in eternal peace. Bobby is survived by his loving wife, Judy; his children, Greg, Scott, Randall (Charlie), and Rebekah Wilson (Chris); his grandchildren, Mara Beeler (Matt), Cameron (Katie), Chelsea Suffridge (Aaron), Elizabeth, Jessica, Chase, Layla, and Blaine; his great-grandchildren, Barrett Beeler and Riley; and his siblings, Kathleen Ogle and Jay (Gigi); several nieces and nephews. Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, Reverend Frank and Leona J. Walker, and numerous beloved brothers and sisters. Family will receive friends Thursday, September 19th from 5-7pm at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home with funeral service to follow at 7pm with Rev. Charlie McNutt officiating. Graveside service will take place Friday, September 20th at 11am at Greenwood Cemetery, 3500 Tazewell Pike, Knoxville, TN 37918, meeting at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home at 10:30 am Friday Morning for procession to the cemetery.
