Boyd Dean Porter, age 73, of Powell, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2023.
Boyd was born in north Knoxville and graduated from Powell High School. He served in the US Army in the late 1960s, then moved back home to Powell, where he resided for the remainder of his life. Boyd loved spending time with his family and friends the most. He was a master storyteller and enjoyed making people laugh with his jokes and bag of tricks. Boyd was a true "jack of all trades" who could do almost anything. He learned taxidermy in his spare time, taught himself how to play the piano, and could fix anything in his 'Grandfather's Workshop.'
Boyd was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Irene Porter. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-five (55) years, Linda Porter; sons, Scott (Ashley) Porter and Chris (Robin) Porter; grandchildren, Kara and Macy Porter; brothers, Bobby (Debbie) Porter and Brian (Mary) Porter; sister, Kimberly Skeen; several nephews.
A private graveside service will be held at Lynnhurst Cemetery.
