C.E. "Eddie" Houser

C.E. "Eddie" Houser passed away after a long illness on Friday, September 25, 2026, at the age of 74, born December 17, 1951, and was a resident of Knoxville, Tennessee. The past few months Eddie has been homebound. He went through alot and at the end, had no quality of life, but he did not complain. He did not ask, "Why me?" but was ready to go at the end. Eddie said he was ready for his new body and I don't know anyone who needed it more or who deserved it more than he did.

Eddie was a free spirited man who loved the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, hiking, going to the lake and mountains, watching high school and college football games. Eddie was a "Vol" for life and loved the "Big Orange"!

Eddie dearly loved his Momma. For several years, we used to go to her house and take her out to eat. He loved doing that and missed it when he could no longer do it.

Eddie worked at the railroad for over 40 years as an engineer where he had lots of friends. Everyone liked him and enjoyed working with him- Greg Brock, David Grigsby, David Cass, David Morris, Steve Regan, John Boy and Earl to name a few. I want to name them all but I know I can't think of everyone.

His best friend from childhood is Eddie "Hog" Spangler. They did everything together and were still friends after all these years. Eddie loved Hog and his wife, Pat, dearly. Eddie told me lots of stories about the things they did and all the good times they had.

Eddie Mink was his friend and brother-in-law. He helped him do alot of things ("A LOT"). He helped fix his lawn mower, mow the yard, cleaned the leaves of the roof, worked on the truck, programmed T.V.'s, phones, iPads and lots of other things. He wouldn't ever take payment and for that reason, he has left him his "Precious Red Truck."

There are many people to thank- Dr. John Swisher who went above and beyond to help him; Vista Radiology, he loved everyone there especially, Denise, Diana and Chris. Everyone there was nice and kind and liked Eddie very much. Home Care nurses, Cheryl and Audrey- they were super nice to him. The nurses and doctors at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center, Shvan, Lisa, and lots of other nurses who weren't over his care would come in to help when asked.

Our best friend, Teri, who came to our house to cut our hair for the past couple of years when Eddie wasn't able to go to her house. Neighbors who were there to help several times when Eddie would pass out, Gary Price, Zayne and Matt Womack and their daughter, Little Violet who would come over to see him and give him a hug. Eddie loved her dearly.

Eddie was preceded in death by his sister, Suzy; son, Trav; and father, Pete. He is survived by his wife, Linda; mother, "Momma" Helen; daughter, Dana; sister, Jackie "Slim" (Ken); grandson, Jacob; granddaughters, Kiera and Skyler; great grandson, Barrett; nephew, Ryan and great niece, Rylee.

To remember Eddie and the life he lived there will be a Celebration of Life Reception Wednesday, September 30th from 6-8pm at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home. We rejoice in the life he is living now free of pain and struggles.
